Popular food during Ramadan

While Ramadan is a time for fasting, it is also a time for feasting. At sunset, Muslims break their fast with a meal called Iftar. This meal is a time for celebrating with family, friends and community members. It is a time to share food and to give thanks for the blessings of life.

History of Ramadan

Islam is a monotheistic religion that developed in the Arabian Peninsula in the seventh century. Its followers are called Muslims, and they believe in the oneness of God, the prophethood of Muhammad, and the holy book, the Quran. Islam comes from the Arabic word 'salaam,' meaning peace, and a Muslim is someone who submits themselves to the will of God, striving to live in peace and harmony with themselves and the world around them.

What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is a month-long period of fasting observed by Muslims worldwide. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam. During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food, drinks, smoking, and other physical needs during daylight hours. The fast is broken each evening after sunset with an iftar meal, and the period of fasting ends after thirty days with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
