Recent legislation in the UK now requires all registered voters to show a valid form of photo ID in order to be allowed to vote.

The list of accepted IDs includes passports and driving licences, but student ID cards issued by universities and colleges are not on the list. Photo ID is yet another barrier to students and young people voting.

With a General Election likely to take place in the next 12-16 months, it has never been more important to ensure that you are registered to vote and that you have valid photo ID.

That's why NUS has teamed up with CitizenCard to offer every single student and young person who needs it FREE VOTER ID* – it would normally cost £15.

As well as being valid Voter ID, CitizenCard is also Proof of Age to buy age-restricted goods, as it carries the PASS hologram.

*Please note that CitizenCard is not yet accepted as voter ID in Northern Ireland. If you plan on voting in NI, get a FREE Electoral Identity Card here.
