Israel and Gaza: Support for our students

We are here to support all of the students at Leeds Beckett who are being affected by the ongoing events in Israel and Gaza. We know that many of you are deeply concerned and feeling the impact of this devastating conflict. We ask everyone in our community to understand that those around you might be experiencing anxiety, sadness or grief at the moment. Please treat each other with respect and compassion.

Leeds Beckett Students' Union has a zero tolerance for any form of harassment, prejudice, racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia or hate crime. We are asking all our members to continue to respect and support each other during these times. If you have been subject to, or witnessed any incident, you can report it through Support. Report. Respect

Support for students is available through Student Wellbeing services, and the University Chaplaincy Service for faith and non-faith support. If this is impacting on your ability to submit assignments, you can contact our LBSU Advice Service via www.leedsbeckettsu.co.uk/advice

If you prefer to contact a community-led organisation, the Union of Jewish Students (UJS) operates a welfare hotline (020 7424 3288), and Tell MAMA can support individuals facing Islamophobia (0800 456 1226).

You can read the University’s statement here.

Guidance for societies and student groups can be found in this document.

Kind regards,
