Meet your 2024/25 Leadership Team

The Leadership Elections are one of the biggest events in the SU calendar, requiring huge effort from the whole staff team to make them happen. A huge thanks goes to all staff and Officers who took time out of their usual jobs to encourage students to nominate themselves, to vote for their next leaders or to provide support to candidates.

It’s time to meet your 2024/25 Student Officer Team and NUS Conference Representatives! After a busy campaigning week for candidates and their campaign teams, the students have spoken and your new leaders have been chosen.

5,484 students turned out to vote and made their voice heard by casting 22,628 votes overall, which is a record turnout for LBSU. Check out the voting stats here: www.leedsbeckettsu.co.uk/voting-stats.

We want to say a massive congratulations to each and every one of this year’s candidates for their hard work during a very busy election. We also want to say thank you to everyone who voted, encouraged others to vote, or got involved in the campaigning to support candidates.

We use a voting system called single transferable vote. It means voters get a bit more of a say, by ranking candidates from most to least favourable. You can read more about single transferable vote here. You can find a full breakdown of the results which have been verified by the Returning Officer, which will show how votes were cast and transferred in each round of voting for each election here

Statement: On 29th February we took the precautionary step of delaying the election count and publication of results while a number of outstanding complaints and issues around some candidates’ campaigns were investigated. The integrity of our elections is of the utmost importance, and so the need to allow sufficient time for investigations, including appeals where necessary, was the driving force behind this decision. This process is now complete, and a summary is outlined here

Congratulations once again to the newly elected full-time Student Officer Team and NUS Conference Representatives – we can’t wait to see what you achieve!
