Student Volunteering Week 2023

Student Volunteering Week is part of a long history of volunteering, fundraising, and campaigning by Further and Higher Education students in the UK. Now entering its 23rd year and Leeds Beckett Students’ Union are highlighting and raising awareness of the importance of student volunteering and the opportunities that you can get involved in during your studies at Leeds Beckett University.

What is Student Volunteering Week?
 

Student Volunteering Week is part of a long history of volunteering, fundraising, and campaigning by Further and Higher Education students in the UK. Now entering its 23rd year and Leeds Beckett Students’ Union are highlighting and raising awareness of the importance of student volunteering and the opportunities that you can get involved in during your studies at Leeds Beckett University. 

We have an exciting week-long programme of events for all students whether you are already involved in volunteering or you want to find out what is available. With a healthy mix of sessions in person and digital there is something to suit everyone. 

Remember, it’s never too late to get involved in volunteering get involved to find out more.

All day - Digital Drop In [DIGITAL]

Book a meeting with one of our volunteering experts to discuss your interests and volunteering requirements. We will be on hand all day to call or video call you to answer any questions that you might have.

17:30 - FoodCycle Leeds Beeston [IN PERSON]

FoodCycle use surplus food to put on free, hot, three course meals in deprived communities. Our volunteers help to cook and/or host these meals.

11:00am - How to boost your CV with volunteering [IN PERSON]

Join Beckett Careers and LBSU to hear about all the ways volunteering can help you choose a career path, and apply for jobs successfully. They’ll also cover how you can include, and really showcase, your voluntary experience on your CV.

11:00am - International Food Celebration [IN PERSON] 

Come and sample volunteers' favorite home-cooked dishes. The event is completely free and you will be able to try a variety of global cuisine. There will also be pop-ups from our other student-led projects including Eco Soup and Thrift Store.

14:00 - Charity Chats - The Access Project [DIGITAL] 

Come along to this online presentation from The Access Project who will be telling you more about ways that you can volunteer as a Tutor online for an hour a week during term-time, in a subject you are passionate about.
