We need innovative and creative volunteers like you to post fun and inspiring content that promotes YHA and informs the public about various aspects of YHA work, hostels and the communities we support.

We especially need your support in connecting with younger audiences, by spreading the message about YHA across various social media platforms - such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat and especially TikTok! You will have the freedom to make anything you want, to host on your social media channels.

To help structure your social media campaign, we will provide you with a 12-week action plan that will take you through the steps of devising, promoting and running your campaign. YHA staff will be on hand to provide advice and support.

As a self-led role, you can decide whether you complete it from home, or outside in the countryside and communities near to your local YHA hostel! You can also decide how much time you want to commit. Our action plan is based on at least an hour a week for 12 weeks, but we welcome longer or shorter volunteering hours – whatever you think you need to complete your amazing social media project!

The sky’s the limit on how you can volunteer. Here some ideas to get the brain cells sparking:

• Do a Sponsored walking or running challenge of 100 miles over 30 days – round your house, garden or nearby park.
• Run a fundraising gaming stream using Twitch (and link your Twitch account to www.justgiving.com/yha )
• Virtual Quiz Night or Bingo on Facebook Live!
• Create content for your friends, family and followers on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube.
• Do a spring clean and an online auction of what you find.

Are you interested in creating interesting and fun video content for Social Media and even YHA’s online channels? Are you a happy amateur who just wants to create some fun videos for TikTok? Or maybe you are looking to become a professional and want to expand your portfolio of high-quality videos?

This opportunity is available to everyone and is especially great if you need to complete the DofE Award Volunteering Section. In addition, you’ll develop your research and communication skills!
